The best season ever

We jumped out on top of Miller’s 3-0 early. Later on, they took the lead 4-3. We tied it in the top of the 6th. Good defense prevailed most of the game and we continued to shut them down. We couldn’t push anything across in the top of the 7th but kept them off the board to force extra innings. I came up with no outs and runners at first and third. All I had to do was hit a fly ball. Absolutely no pressure. I ended up cranking it out of the park (yeah!) putting us up 7-4. That score prevailed and pushed us into the league championship game against (you guessed it) our old nemesis, the Care-E-It.

I have it on good word that they were awfully sure of themselves going into this game, after the major whoopings they gave us to end the tournament. They jumped off to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first. It stayed that way until like the bottom of the 5th when we pushed two runs across. A huge 3 run outburst in the 6th put us up 5-3 going into the 7th. They pushed a run across but ended the game with ground ball to second with the tieing run on second.

Another excellent defensive game that we won 5-4. It seems like when we play a near flawless defense, we can’t lose. Hard to believe a softball game with only nine runs scored, but we seem to make hay off the tight games. We won the league with that one.

So this caps my best season of softball ever. A second place tournament trophy and a first place league trophy. That beats my previous best of a second place tournament trophy. What a great %^$(( year!
